Centre of tourism Vratna ranks among
the most attractive touristic and skiing centres in the Slovak
Republic. It forms a part of the mountain Mala Fatra, in the
north-west of Carpathian arch, situated only 30 km from the city
Zilina. On a relatively small area – cca 36 km˛ - a diverse
palette of beauty and attractions are concentrated that only
nature can provide: peculiar entrance to Vratna through Tiesnavy
with bizarre rocky objects; karst Dolne, Horne and Nove Diery
(Lower, Upper and New “Holes” – caves) accessible through gangways
and ladders; majestic hill Velky Rozsutec – dominant peak of
Vratna; panorama of valleys of Mala Fatra and neighbouring

All the fans of the white sport and
tourism, starting from beginners up to the most demanding ones,
will find their place here in the middle of a beautiful nature. In
this ski resort, at three locations DEDOVKA, MARGUSKA and LALIKY,
there is a mountain passenger transport equipment including two
4-chair lifts and one 6-seater lift in combination with 8-seater
cabins with total transportation capacity of 9,700 persons per
hour, 14 km downhill tracks treated on a regular basis and
country-skiing tracks at the Health Track with lengths of 1, 3 and
5 km.

Located in the Lucanska part of the
Small Fatra under Velka Luka is a renowned Martinske Hole Ski
Centre. Very good skiing conditions attract the skiers from the
whole country as well as from abroad. The Lucansky ridge endows
comfortable cross-country skiing with a great view of Rajec and
Turiec basins and the surrounding mountains as well. Although the
beautiful scenery at Martinske hole provides sufficient
opportunities for summer tourism, ithe centre is mainly known for
its excellent climate and terrain conditions for downhill skiing.

The Súľov Rocks are one of the most
significant areas of natural beauty in Slovakia. Rocky massif is
formed into bizarre shapes of towers, cones, needles, gates and
the rocks resembling figures, animals and things. There is a great
variety of fauna and flora on Súľov territory. The Súľov Rocks are
frequently visited by tourists, bikers and climbers. Hiking is
adequately strenuous with several hour walks with 300-500 m
difference of elevation. During the last two decades real paradise
for climbers have been created in Súľov and today it belongs to
the most interesting areas not only in Slovakia. The Súľov Rocks
are inimitable. We should treat them with respect, try to
understand their uniqueness and preserve them for generations.

Spa Rajecke Teplice belongs to the top
Slovakia's spas and their healing power was known as early as 6
centuries ago. It lies in the northern part of Slovakia amid the
dense coniferous woods and bizarre dolomite formations of
grandiose Mala Fatra and Strazovske vrchy Mountains in the area
rich in mineral water springs. 38 °C thermal water springs have
excellent healing effects.

The castle is first mentioned in the
reign of Matúš Čák as a bigger centre. It was built turn of 13th
and 14th century, probably at an older base. As a royal property
was held at the beginning of 15th century by queens Barbora and
later Elizabeth. In 1444 - 1469 was property of Pongrác clan from
Liptovský Mikuláš, and then it was changing owners rapidly. In
17th century the castle was giving refuge to Thokoly uprising.
Therefore outer walls of the castle were destroyed by the empire
army of Leopold I. in 1698. Strečno is in ruins since then.

The castle was built in 13th century,
first mentioned in 1323. In 14th, 15th and 18th century first
rebuilt into the Renaissance castle, later in the Baroque style.
After the fire rebuilt in the classicism style. General
